Lagniappe: Benchmarks

Principles of Good Practice for Electronically Delivered Courses

The Online Teaching Model is correlated with commonly accepted benchmarks, best practices, and guidelines of online learning, including the Principles of Good Practice for Electronically Delivered Courses. The Principles are the product of a Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications (WCET) project that involved higher-education-regulating agencies, higher-education institutions, and the regional accrediting community. This document now forms the basis for new accreditation guidelines adopted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The Principles address curriculum, instruction, faculty support, resources for learning, student services, and evaluation and assessment as they relate to electronically delivered courses.
