Evaluation plays a critical role in online learning. Course evaluation is used to assess student learning, determine course/program effectiveness, monitor quality, improve teaching strategies, increase satisfaction with technology, as well as to make other decisions related to outcomes or improvements. Useful evaluations, however, do not simply materialize. They require careful planning and an understanding of appropriate evaluation methods.
