By the conclusion of this phase, you will be able to

  1. Discuss characteristics, demographics, and responsibilities of online learners
  2. List at least four factors that affect the success of online learners
  3. Determine your course goals and student learning outcomes
  4. Ascertain the support available for online course development from your institution in areas such as hardware, software, training, instructional design, multimedia, and funding
  5. Identify your specific needs for course development in the areas of time, funding, technology, and staff
  6. Discuss the importance of being mindful of each of the following areas as you plan an online course: academic dishonesty, accessibility, accreditation, copyright and fair use, intellectual property, plagiarism, privacy, and student identity
